The 5 strongest buying signals (ranked)

  • Funding round + hiring: Fresh money + building team = ready to invest
  • New VP/Head of Sales hired: New leader = new budget = new vendors
  • Competitor switch/complaint: Actively unhappy with current solution
  • CEO posted about pain point: Publicly acknowledged the problem you solve
  • Tech stack change: Modernizing infrastructure = open to new tools
  • When to act

    • Funding rounds: Within 2 weeks of announcement
    • Executive hires: Within 1 week (they're in "listening mode")
    • LinkedIn posts: Within 24-48 hours (relevance is perishable)
    • Hiring signals: Within 1-2 weeks of job posting

    False positives

    Not every signal means "buy now":

    • Layoffs can mean budget cuts, not buying signals
    • Tech changes might be downgrades, not upgrades
    • Job postings might be replacements, not growth

    Always check the dossier for context before outreach.

  • Check signals with strength > 75 first (5 min)
  • Look for correlations (2 min)
  • View dossiers for top 2-3 accounts (10 min)
  • Send outreach for 2-3 accounts (15 min)
